KTI, originally founded in 1985, is a world-leading manufacturer of automatic splicers, turret rewinders and other web handling equipment for the printing, packaging, tag, narrow web film and many other industries. With over 3500 machines operating in 24 countries, KTI continues to improve their product lines to meet the needs of the expanding narrow web converting industry.
In February 2014, KTI was purchased by Quantum Design Inc., a controls systems integrator located in Loves Park, IL. Quantum Design’s combination of engineering strength and control panel production experience has brought new light to KTI. Under the new ownership, KTI has rediscovered their need for new product development and has a redefined focus on customer satisfaction.
KTI offers several different turret rewinder models to cover many different rewinding applications. With rewinders that can rewind up to 1270mm (50”) in diameter parent rolls to rewinders that can rewind finished rolls less than 38mm (1.5”) in diameter, there is a rewinder model to suit almost any application. KTI offers a variety of additional options for their rewinders including semi-automatic core loading, remote connection, an automatic glue pot refill, an automatic tail tape roll closure, automatic roll eject and dancer tension control.
KTI also sells a variety of automatic butt splicers with web widths up to 1270mm (50”) roll diameters up to 1829mm (72”), and splice speeds up to 305 MPM (1000 FPM). These cost effective, full featured machines eliminate the need to stop the press to load new rolls allowing for greater throughput. The butt splice is made at zero speed and guarantees no overlap splicing. Additional options can include a film package, an automatic decurler, an integrated roll lift system, and roll carts to name a few.
